Hi everybody, I’m Matija and I joined the Erasmus Placement programme with QS last January.
At the beginning I was lost, I didn’t know the language well and I had to get used to the London life.
Day by day, I’m improving my English language, my experience and creating bonds and links with this terrific country! At the beginning I was scared because I knew I was the only intern in my office, so I was scared I was not prepared enough. Fortunately my desk-neighbour Zaid helped me with everything I needed and gave me a lot of inductions. I really appreciate the time he spent with me. Everyone in the office was 100% helpful and kind.
I also established good connections with the other people in my division and new friendships have started. Even if QS is one of the most important company in higher education environment, you can work in a relaxing and calm ambient.
I’m very thankful to had this amazing opportunity as I’m working as an intern for the “World’s leading network for top careers and education”. I’m dealing with a lot of interesting tasks as following up with clients, contacting Italian and Australian universities, organizing conferences and meetings; improving my skills and competences.
I’m only scared that the Erasmus program could be destroyed because a lack of funding. It would be an ashamed as hundreds of students would not have the opportunity I had, an opportunity that can open barriers and facilitate a student in the job market, especially in this time of economic recession in which is becoming more and more difficult to find a job.
