Overview – QS University Rankings: BRICS 2016

Today marks the launch of the QS University Rankings: BRICS 2016, providing an overview of leading universities across the five BRICS countries. This year’s ranking is bigger than ever, with 250 institutions featured.

Which country has the most institutions in the top 250? Which university is the highest ranked? And where’s the best place in the BRICS nations to study? Explore the interactive table to find out.

The QS University Rankings: BRICS is based on eight key performance indicators, covering:

• Global reputation
• Internationalisation
• Academic staff levels
• Research production
• Research impact

So how did each of the five BRICS nations fare? As may be expected, the economic power of China translates into a strong representation; China has 86 universities in the top 250, more than any other. Russia follows with 55, while Brazil comes a close third with 54. India has 44 institutions represented, and in 5^th place is South Africa with 11.
