The QS 2021 Top 50 Under 50 Rankings are now live and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has retained its top spot 

The Singaporean institution was established in 1991 and recently ranked 13th in the QS 2021 World University Rankings. 

Following NTU in second place is The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), which is ranked 27th in the global rankings.  

The top five institutions are then rounded out by KAIST – Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, and Université PSL (Paris Sciences & Lettres) in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.  

The QS Top 50 Under 50 Rankings profile the best universities in the world which are under 50 years old, drawing attention to some of the worlds top young universities. Since 2015, the rankings set hatripled its range to include the Next 100 Under 50. 

Given the age parameters, the Top 50 Under 50 and the Next 100 Under 50 see significant changes each year as universities pass the 50-year markerdifferentiating it from other rankings which are often quite stable. 

For this year’s results, the full top ten list for the QS Top 50 Under 50 are as follows:

  2. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) 
  3. KAIST – Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology 
  4. City University of Hong Kong 
  5. Université PSL (Paris Sciences & Lettres) 
  6. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University 
  7. Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) 
  8. Sorbonne University 
  9. Aalto University 
  10. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)
