Harvard University has retained its top spot in the QS USA University Rankings 2021, leading the annual rankings of universities across the USA.
Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) also retained their second and third spots respectively.
University of California, Berkeley (UCB) came in fourth place (retaining its spot), while the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) took fifth place, rising from equal sixth place in last year’s rankings.
Yale University retained its sixth place and Columbia University came in seventh, dropping from fifth place last year. Princeton University came in eighth place, rising from its previous ninth place.
New York University (NYU) was the biggest winner, climbing two spots from 11th to ninth place this year. The University of Pennsylvania dropped two spots from eighth to tenth.
This year’s rankings are the biggest USA rankings yet for QS with 351 institutions included in the rankings, rising from 302 institutions last year.
The most represented state is New York, with the state boasting 42 institutions on the ranking table. Other major states are California (38 universities), Pennsylvania (18 universities) and Massachusetts (16 universities).
