The QS World University Rankings Latin America 2022 are now live!
This year’s Latin American ranking features 418 institutions, up from 410 last year, making it our biggest Latin American rankings yet.
There are 13 new entrants overall this year. However, none of these debutants break into the top 300, indicating that the established players are not giving up their prominence to their peers.
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile has retained the top spot for another year running, receiving perfect scores in QS’s Academic Reputation and Employer Reputation indicators.
Brazil’s Universidade de São Paulo also retains its second position, with perfect scores in Academic Reputation, Papers per Faculty, Staff with PhD, International Research Network, and Web Impact.
The universities in third and fourth position have exchanged places this year, with Universidad de Chile taking third and Mexico’s Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) sitting in fourth.
Fifth position this year is held by Colombia’s Universidad de Los Andes; and sixth position by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) – both have risen one rank year-on-year.
The Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) falls from fifth to seventh. Beyond seventh, the top ten remains unchanged, with Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia retaining eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively.
